Couples, parents, and families in our churches and communities
are in great need of support, encouragement, and skills. In addition, those who
serve families need to be equipped with the resources and training necessary to
address the complexities of family life.
Today's family has changed and will likely continue to do
so in the future. As those who serve and minister to families, we must continue
to strengthen first-time marriages, biological parents, and intact families. At
the same time, we must equip ourselves to respond to the needs of single parents,
stepfamilies, empty nesters and the growing number of individuals cohabiting outside
of marriage.
To address these great needs, a number of today's leading
writers, speakers and counselors have come together to develop the Association
of Marriage and Family Ministries (AMFM). The purpose of this conference is to
train and equip marriage and family helping professionals, ministers, and lay
leaders.
To do so, we have partnered with the experts to showcase
the finest in marriage and family training and resources available today, as well
as those that are emerging with new and creative ideas. The conference will equip,
train, encourage, resource and support you as a leader in your work with couples,
parents, and the full spectrum of family types.
Conference Learning Objectives
- Identify challenges that families are facing today.
- Discuss effective strategies to assist couples, parents
and families.
- Describe the effects of divorce, loss/grief, remarriage,
and/or empty-nest on marriage and individual family members.
- State the challenges of working with couples, single-parent and/or stepfamilies.
- Summarize several ways to best serve families in your setting.
